Your Hampshire & Dor Romantic Boltholes

Discover an oasis of peace and tranquillity at Burley Manor; a secluded haven perfect for pre- or post-wedding pampering. I love being around children, but a break away at this adults-only venue was sheer bliss – two days of me-time, fabulous hospitality, top-notch food and an overnight stay in one of the cosy garden suites. Complete with its own private outdoor balcony, a super-comfy bed and views to die for, time seemed to move at a slower pace from the moment I arrived.

I was lucky enough to enjoy unbroken sunshine during my stay and my bedroom offered unbroken views of the garden and surrounding countryside. Relaxing on the porch, soaking up the rays, I was thrilled to watch the deer grazing in the field beyond. Although it was hard to drag myself away from this rural idyll, I couldn’t resist a relaxing dip in the outdoor pool before dinner. The restaurant, just a short stroll away across the garden, provides a warm and inviting atmosphere with a delicious Mediterranean-inspired menu. With the focus on seasonal, UK and locally sourced produce, the only challenge is deciding what mouth-watering dishes to choose.

If the setting, plush interiors, great food and service aren’t enough to get you feeling properly relaxed and chilled, there are fabulous treatment rooms on site to help rejuvenate mind, body and soul. Using luxury Tempe Spa products there’s a menu of indulgent treatments to choose from. I opted for a manicure; a relaxing hour of cleasing and toning, quench mask, scrub and hand massage, leaving my skin feeling silky smooth and my nails in tip-top condition.

If you can tear yourself away from all the home comforts, there’s a wealth  of walks to discover on the doorstep as well as picturesque Burley with its quaint shops and tea rooms. The venue’s dog friendly, so you can tkae your pet pooch along too. I had several encounters with the local New Forest ponies that roam freely through the village, so you’re never far away from a great photo opportunity.

Steeped in history, Burley Manor is more than a romantic getaway though, it’s a must-see wedding venue too. As well as a magnificent beamed barn, which can host up to 80 guests for a seated wedding breakfast and 120 for the evening celebration; Deer Park Barn is a new addition – perfect for smaller weddings. Or why not take over the whole place and become lord and lady of the manor for your big day?
