Slow Food Movement Being apart of something bigger & better

Since launching Burley Manor in 2015, we’ve been dedicated to supporting Slow Food UK, a not-for-profit global, grassroots movement with thousands of members around the world that links to pleasure of food with a commitment to community and the environment. Together our aim is to promote a better way to eat, celebrating the rich food traditions that make up the UK, and protecting our edible biodiversity.

So, what do we do as part of the movement? We take our time finding the most special produce from close a radius as possible, to ensure we’re using quality ingredients throughout every single dish on our menu.

Some of our most-trusted suppliers include, Kingfisher who deliver us fresh quality fish every single day. Sourcing fish responsibly is paramount to their business and they focus on reducing food miles & carbon footprint. All of their fish is fully traceable too, so both us and you know exactly where every piece comes from.

As local suppliers of sustainable produce, we chose Farmers Butcher to supply both our pork and lamb. Farmers Butcher source quality local Hampshire meats and are one of the only butchers in the New Forest to supply wild boar from local farmers.

Walter Rose & Sons naturally rear lamb and Creedy carver duck using natural feed, creating an exceptionally tender meat with beautiful sweet & subtle flavours when cooked in our wood-fired oven.

Using no artificial ingredients, Wild Island handmade some of our mouthwatering dressings & oils just over the water on the Isle of Wight. They’re passionate about their ingredients and how they are grown – This is shown with your very first taste.

Based in the heart of the New Forest, Lyburn Cheese has been a family run business for more than 60 years, with 3 generations working together to make the small-hold farm what it is today. With 8 variations of cheese on offer, with all of them made on Lyburn Farm using their own pasteurised cows milk and a vegetarian rennet.

To celebrate the success of this movement, we have partnered with Slow Food UK to bring you a weekend of foraging, wild food & unique events in April 2019; from a 5-course tasting menu to foraging with wild food expert and master forager Claudio Bincoletto and meeting Executive Chairman of Slow Food, Shane Holland – We’ve got lots going on!
