SLOW FOOD Movement

Here at Burley Manor HQ, we’re thrilled to be honouring the importance of global food ethics when we launch our unique new restaurant with rooms in December.

As a member of the Slow Food Movement, our executive chef James Forman is a firm follower of the grassroots organisation who link the pleasure of food with a commitment to community and the environment.

What is the slow food movement exactly? With millions of supporters in over 150 countries around the world, the international community works to protect our local food culture and aims to reinvigorate people’s interest in the food they eat, where it comes from and the effects of our food choices. For our new menu at Burley Manor, following an approach which promotes the true connection between plate, people and planet, is something we are extremely proud to be on board with.

James our executive chef says: “I have always enjoyed creating fine dining dishes but my passion is for simpler food with personality and soul.” My aim is to deliver natural, honest food with provenance and featuring only a few of the best ingredients, dishes which allow the produce to sing.”
